VIETNAM GOVERNMENT PROPOSED A “TOURISM FEE” TO ITS VISITORS
At a recent meeting of tourism companies and relevant authorities in Hanoi, director of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) Nguyen Van Tuan said the proposed tourism fee was a necessity. Following this, the government will charge visitors US$1 a day when they stay in Vietnam. The reason is to use this to promote Vietnam Tourism activities.
The proposal has caused many different points of view but mostly are not agreed by the travel operators of Vietnam. The local operators are worried about this to affect to the duration that visitors will stay when travelling to Vietnam. They may shorten their stay since there is a none-reasonable fee raised. This is also considered to be a new barrier for Vietnam Tourism Industry. There are still meetings between Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and travel companies in Vietnam to discuss and to solve the problems regarding to entrance fees, public usages, environments and how to make things transparent and control over the funds and how they are spent to ensure they are not wasted. Vietnam needs much money to invest and to promote for its tourism but the funds should be taken apart from visa fees, not from visitors and travel agents as travel agents have to pay services taxes to Government already.
The information is not official but Quick Vietnam Visa will update and inform all soon, anyways, there is a big impact to Vietnam Tourism Industry.
